Earlier this year, on 6th February, Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of her service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and throughout the Commonwealth.
The Queen's extraordinary reign has seen her travel more widely than any other monarch in history, undertaking many historic overseas visits. The queen is well known for her sense of duty and her devotion to a life of service. She has been an important figurehead for the UK and the Commonwealth during times of enormous social change and the turmoil of the last few years with the horrendous covid pandemic.
Although slowing down somewhat recently due to mobility issues, Her Majesty continues to carry out a number of engagements. I can't blame her for pulling out of the opening of Parliament and sending Prince Charles instead as she is fully entitled to concentrate on visits that it is clear she personally enjoys such as anything to do with horse racing or to attend the Chelsea flower show.
To celebrate this incredible anniversary, a number of events and initiatives will take place throughout the year, culminating in a four day bank holiday weekend in the UK from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June. Street parties are busily being planned amongst other events going on in the community to celebrate this momentous event.
A number of people are planning a jubilee quiz night, either within their own homes or by playing remotely with friends and family on zoom. A powerpoint quiz is the perfect format to share on zoom so why not go ahead and look at the powerpoint and PDF jubilee quiz that we have available. Click here for more information.
